Lake View House
Lakeview House is certain to win you over with its rich history, marvelous cuisine, and panoramic lakeside views. A turn-of-the-century landmark, this restaurant first opened its doors as O'Malley's in 1899, an era when Orange Lake was known as the playground of eastern New York. Guests were promised a day in the country, culminating in a marvelous meal as the sun set over Orange Lake. That's what visitors expected then, and that's what legions of regular customers still enjoy today. This, thanks to expressways that make Lakeview House more accessible than ever from anywhere in the Metropolitan New York area. In fact, even Manhattanite Mickey Spillane was a regular customer back in the day. While exciting renovations are currently underway, the Lakeview Room is already complete, giving guests a peek at the sumptuous remodeling to come. But the menu, as ever, needs no remodeling. That's because the Sandwiches, Salads, Steaks, Fresh Seafood and House-made Pastas are perfect just the way they are. As restaurant critic Bill Guilfoyle of the TIMES-HERALD RECORD put it, "Lakeview House is a proven winner. Chef Carter is ably assisted by John Hendrickson, a talented chef in his own right, and the food here is excellent. Service is terrific and fair prices make this place a spot to come back to over and over." Reservations are recommended, and private functions are welcome.
